Abstract

Stunting has been a national nutrinional case in Indonesia with a 2,6% prevalence in 2017 (13% of severe stunting and 10,5% of moderate stunting). Desa Sei Kinjil placed the second largest number of stunting cases in Kabupaten Ketapang, West Kalimantan, Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to describe the stunting cases in Desa Sei Kinjil Kecamatan Benua Kayong Kabupaten Ketapang. Using observational descriptive and case series approach, 35 stunting children, selected by using sampling technique, participated as the samples. The data were statistically analyzed using spacial analysis. The study revealed 63,6 % of early marriage, 39,4% of incomplete antenatal care visit, 48,5% of non—breastfeeding children, 48,5% of inapproriate age of supplementary feeding practice, and 51,5% of low birthweight. Additionally, the nearest local hospital was located in Dusun Kinjil (3,92 km), and the farthest hospital was located in Dusun Teratai putih (7,06 km). The unrelated variables of stunting risk factors in Desa Sei Kinjil were early marriage, non-breastfeeding children, low birthweight, and inappropriate age of supplementary feeding practice. From the findings, it is important to conduct cross-sector effort in giving the information about the prevention of stunting and to monitor the nutritional status of children under five years of age , especially in the high rate area of stunting cases.
