Abstract

Hypertension remains a health concern because it is a disease of the Silent Killer (silent killer) and usually occurs without symptoms (asymptomatic). According to WHO, a disease related to work one of them is Hypertension. Based on data from routine reporting Sambas Askes health center in 2012, the Civil Servants (PNS) who experienced hypertension as much as 29.80% of the civil servants in 1523. Results from a preliminary survey conducted by researchers at six on education (regional work units), civil servants suffer as much as 10.11% Hypertension of 168 civil servants who work period> 5 years. This study aims to determine the factors associated with hypertension in the Civil Service in Sambas district government in 2013. This study used a case-control design. Study sample as many as 54 respondents (18 cases and 36 controls) were taken using purposive sampling technique. The statistical test used Chi-square (L 95%). The results showed there is a significant relationship between work stress (p value = 0.032; OR = 6.400, 95% CI = 1.279 to 32.027), workplace diet (p value = 0.025; OR = 4.545, 95% CI = 1.356 to 15.238 ) and exercise habits (aerobics) 3 times the frequency and duration of 30 minutes / week (p value = 0.003; OR = 17.00, 95% CI = 2.041 to 141.625). Variables that are not related workload ≥ 5 hours / day (p value = 0.246). It is recommended to the Government for the Sambas district health monitoring (screening) at least 1 year of civil servants, improving health promotion, worker tasks should be designed in accordance individual skills and abilities, work rotation (job rotation) to reduce work stress on a regular basis PNS and continuous, appealed to civil servants to exercise at least 3 times a duration of 30 minutes / week to maintain health, physical fitness and blood pressure control than through treatment.
