Abstract

Good sanitary condition ship will have a positive impact in the form of comfort for people who are in it, including the crew and the ship captain. Conversely, if condition of sanitary are ignore. Then the ship will be a hive vector that can cause dangerous diseases such as thypoid, diarhea and lague are more common in vessels with poor sanitation. Maintain sanitation of the ship is the duty crew, both the implementation there are a lot of factors that affect the crew in keeping the ship sanitation. The purpose of this research is to determine the relationship of predispocing factor(knowledge, attitude, education), enabling (availability of infrastructur, availability of time), reinforcing (support the ship captain, friend profession support) to the behavior of ship crew in maintaning the vessel sanitation at the Seng Hie Port Pontianak in 2013. This research used observational analytic with cross sectional approach. The subjects were 129 ship crews who worked at the Sheng Hie Port Pontianak. The analysis of the research data used was chi – square test. The research result showed that the variables related to the behavior of the crew in maintaining sanitary conditions were education ( p value = 0,018, C = 0,243 ), availability of facilities and infrastructures ( p value = 0,004, PR = 4,276 ), time availability ( p value = 0,001, PR = 1,905 ), workmates (p value = 0,018, PR = 1,534 ), and the captain of the ship ( p value = 0,004, PR = 1,710 ). Besides, the unrelated variables were knowledge ( p value = 0,140 ) and attitude ( p value = 0,906 ). The efforts need to do are supports and participations of the ship’s captain in maintaining the sanitation the ship, and the awareness of individual crew members to try and remain each other among fellow crew members to work together to maintain sanitary conditions. In addition, there needs to be oversight of intensive ship of the CTF and intervention counselling programs related to the crew and captain of ship the improtance of maintaining sanitary condition
