Abstract
In the first quarter of 2014 – 2019, the number of occupational injuries at palm oil processing company of PT. X Kabupaten kubu Raya has reached 19 cases or experienced by 21 workers. This study aimed at investigating the risk and the occupational injuries at palm oil processing company of PT. X Kabupaten Kubu Raya. This study used cross sectional descriptive method. The population were 8 palm oil processing work stations consisted of grading, loading ramp, sterilizer, digester and press, clarification, nut and kernel, and boiler and engine room. The samples were 21 workers who experienced occupational injuries. The results of the analysis revealed some risk factors of occupational injuries. They were physical work environment, chemical, mechanical, electrical and ergonomic risks. The highest number of occupational injuries was experienced by workers aged 28 years, males (95.23%), high school graduates (33.34%, 3 months period workers, shift work 1 (57.15%), palm oil processing unit (52.38%), hot oil burst (23.81), work equipment ( 52.39%), unsafe condition factor (76.20%), palm oil processing location (66.67%), characteristics of burns and surface wound (33.34%), and abnormal position and upper limb injuries (42.86%). From the findings, the owners of the palm oil company needs to conduct hazard prevention and control in the palm oil processing unit which include substitution control, engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment.
