Abstract

Background: The hospital is one place that has the potential for fire hazard, which causes material loss, stops all activities, and threatens human life. Cases of hospital fires that have occurred include the burning of the ICCU Mintohardjo hospital on October 14, 2018, the fire allegedly originated from an electrical short circuit. The fire at the Makassar Hajj General Hospital in South Kalimantan, the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit which caused the hospital’s radiology room to burn out. Regional General Hospital Dr. Soedarso had a fire on October 26, 2003, a fire allegedly originated from the hospital director and general hospital area Abdul Aziz Singkawang om march 5, 2018 as a result of the burning of the UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) battery begins with explosion of one dry battery in the radiology installation UPS centre room. Purpose : Knowing is to determine the active protection system as a countermeasure of fire hazards at Hospital in Pontianak City. Method : This type of research is descriptive analytic using observation, interview methods and a measurement. Results : Research shows that the suitability of active protection is like APAR (85,71%), building (42,85%), sprinkler (14,29%), detector and fire alarm (42,85%). While passive protection as a mean of escape (14,29%), way out direction (85,71%), emergency lighting (0%), meeting place (100%). Suggestions : Hospitals can maintain active protection such as fire extinguishers, hydrant, sprinklers, detectors and fire alarms by regularly maintaining, checking and retesting active protection such as means of escape routes, exit direction, emergency lighting and gathering points in order to better maintain facilities and infrastructure by regularly checking passive ptotection conditions.
