Abstract

Filtration is thee process of removing turbidity, color and iron in the water as these particle will be retained on the filter media when the water is filtered using these media. This study aimed at comparing the effectiveness of slow and rapid sand filters in reducing levels of iron,color, and turbidity. Using statistic descriptive analysis,the data were presented in the forms of narration, graphic, and figures. In addition, paired t-test was used to discover the average differences and one way anova was employed to get the differences test. The study revealed that slow sand filters reduced the turbidity of 22,85 NTU with the highest percentage of 55,68%, the color of 95,8 Pt.Co with the highest percentage of 74,09 %, and Fe levels of 1,061 mg/l with the highest percentage of 99,87 %. On the other hand, rapid sand filter effectively reduced the turbidity of 28,9 NTU with the highest percentage of 55,46 %, the color of 253 Pt.Co with the highest percentage of 77,55 %, and Fe levels of 1,481 mg/l with the highest percentage of 97,5 % From the findings, people who live in Komplek Villa Anugrah Permai are encouraged to minimize the use of unfiltered dug well. Also, further researcher is expected to discucc more on the use of natural and filtration system so that people can consume healthy and standardized water for daily consumption. "Filtrasi adalah proses penghilangan dimana partikel - partikel tersebut akan tertahan pada media penyaring selama air melewati media tersebut (Tri Joko, 2010). Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui perbandingan efektivitas saringan pasir lambat (SPL) dengan saringan pasir cepat (SPC) dalam menurunkan kadar Besi (Fe) warna dan kekeruhan pada sumur galian. Desain penelitian berupa analisis secara statistik deskriftif. Data ditampilkan dalam bentuk narasi, grafik dan gambar. Uji t berpasangan untuk mengetahui perbedaan rata-rata,uji beda menggunakan one way anova. Sampel penelitian sebanyak 48 sampel dan 16 kali pengulangan. Alat ukur pengumpulan data menggunakan thio cyanat – colori mentri (besi), turbid meter (kekeruhan), colori metri (warna), stopwatch dan literan. Hasil penelitian diketahui saringan pasir lambat (SPL) menurunkan kekeruhan rata-rata 22,85 NTU dan persentase tertinggi 55,68 %,warna rata-rata 95,8 Pt.Co dan persentase tertinggi 74,09 %,Besi (Fe) rata-rata 1,061 mg/l dan persentase tertinggi 99,87 %. Sedangkan saringan pasir cepat (SPC) menurunkan kekeruhan rat-rata 28,9 NTU dan persentase tertinggi 55,46%, Warna rata-rata 253 Pt.Co dan persentase tertinggi 77,55%, Besi (Fe) 1,481 Mg/l dan persentase tertinggi 97,5 %. Diharapkan kepada masyarakat kabupaten Kubu Raya,kecamatan Sungai Raya komplek Villa Anugrah Permai untuk menimalisir penggunaan air sumur tanpa pengolahan air. Untuk peneliti diharapkan melakukan penelitian yang lebih lanjut terhadap penggunaan filtrasi dengan bahan-bahan alami yang lebih bervariasi dan aman terhadap kesehatan diharapkan menghasilkan air yang lebih baik dan layak untuk konsumsi kebutuhan sehari-hari masyarakat"
