Abstract

Stress is the inability of workers to cope with the demand and pressure in a job resulted from the work inconvenience condition. Women’s involvement in multiple roles both as housewives and working mother may lead to various conflicts such as intrapersonal and interpersonal conflict. Intrinsic factors (i.e. job pressure, hecticness, and heat pressure) and extrinsic factors (i.e. role in organization, career development, interpersonal structure relationship, and organization atmosphere) in the work area can cause job stress to women workers. Regarding the sources of stress of women workers, this research was mainly intended to find out the correlation between work intrinsic factor with job stress of women workers at PT Harjohn Timber Kabupaten Kubu Raya (study on women workers with multiple roles). This research was conducted by employing analytical observational study with cross sectional approach. The sample of this research was 124 respondents from workers of Plywood unit. The data were obtained from interview and direct measurement. Data analysis was administered by Pearson Correlational Coefficient. The findings of the research indicated that there is a significant correlation between job pressure (pvalue = 0,001) and hecticness (pvalue= 0,003), and there is no correlation between heat pressure (pvalue = 0,136) with job stress of workers at PT Harjohn Timber Kabupaten Kubu Raya. Based on the research findings, it is recommended that the company can fully control the hecticness from its sources such as machine maintenance, sounds absorbing panel installation, and separation wall for each section. The other important actions are to set up the arrangement of working time for women workers especially who work in high temperature work area, and to increase the number of workers particularly on production unit in order to avoid job demand and time pressure. It is also expected that the company can provide salt water drink as electrolyte replenishment, distribute thin layer clothes to reduce the amount of sweat evaporation from the exposure of heat pressure, and also conduct regular check on the use of safety protection tools such as ear plug and ear muff
