Abstract

-- Background: Covid-19 is becoming a global pandemic, the case tends to increase continuously. Covid-19 transmission prevention behavior through health protocol is the most effective way to suppress the spread of this virus, but there are still many people who do not comply with the Covid-19 health protocol. Objective: To find out factors related to Covid-19 prevention behavior in the community based on Protection Motivation Theory (PMT) in Pontianak City. Method: This study used a cross-sectional analytic approach, with a total sample of 384 in people aged 15-64 years taken by consecutive sampling. Data analysis used descriptive and bivariate analysis (Chi Square Test with 95% CI). Results: Significant factors related to the prevention behavior of Covid-19 transmission through the application of health protocols were perception of severity (PR = 1,251; 95% CI = 1,065-1,469), self-efficacy (PR = 1,711; 95% CI = 1,460-2,005), motivation (PR = 1,326; 95% CI = 1,111-1,582), intention to behave (PR = 1,436; 95% CI = 1,235-1,670), sources of information (PR = 0.651; 95% CI = 0.555-0.763), and Hoox news (PR = 1,199; 95% CI = 1,0011,436) (p value <0.05), while the perception of vulnerability was not significantly related (p value> 0.05). Conclusion: Self-efficacy in implementing Covid-19 prevention protocol is considered as a factor that can improve prevention behavior through valid and reliable information about Covid19.
