Abstract

This experiment aimed to find the optimum level of carbohydrate in the diets on growth performance of tengadak (Barbonymus achwanefeldii). The triple completely randomized designe had four levels of carbohydrate in the diets, i.e. 10; 20, 30 and 40 %. The experimental diets with the same protein (isoprotein) and energy (isocaloric) were fed to tengadak fingerlings with an averge 3,66±0,49 g per fish. Those fish was been cultivated in aquarium for 60 days. The experimental diets were fed to tengadak adsatiation and three times aday. The results showed that feeding the diets containing different levels of carbohydratewere significantly different (P<0,05) to the protein body, lipid body, protein retention, lipid retention, daily growth rate, daily feed consumption and feed efficiency. The diet containing 20% of carbohydrate was the highest one for the growth performance of tengadak, and it produced the highest of protein body (50,94±0,45 %); lipid body (23,49±0,13 %);protein retention (22,13±0,04 %); lipid retention (30,93±0,01 %); daily growth rate (3,52 %); daily feed consumption (0,53±0,02 g) and feed efficiency(55.68±1.35 %). The optimal level carbohydrate in the diet for tengadak was 22,89%.
