Abstract

Based on the profile of the Ketapang District Health Office in 2017 there was an increase in malnutrition and lack of nutrition (16.3%). In 2017 the number of cases of malnutrition and second highest malnutrition in Ketapang District was in the working area of the Balai Berkuak Health Center (17.6%). The general objective in this study was to determine the relationship between maternal knowledge, abstinence behavior, exclusive breastfeeding, completeness of immunization and infectious diseases with the incidence of malnutrition and malnutrition in the work area of the Balai Berkuak Health Center. This research is an observational research which is a Case Control research design with a sample of 34 cases and 34 controls. The test used is the Chi Square Test. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between maternal knowledge (p=0,002 ; OR=8,158), abstinence behavior (p= 0,000; OR=22,857), family income (p= 0,000; OR=8,556), exclusive breastfeeding (p=0.004; OR=5,800), and infectious disease (p= 0.043; OR=3,256) with the occurrence of malnutrition and malnutrition in children under five in the working area of Balai Berkuak Health Center. It is expected that health center health workers conduct health counseling or counseling for postpartum mothers especially about abstinence of food that is carried out and need to include family including postpartum mother nutrition, which is food that needs to be consumed by postpartum mothers and risks if postpartum mothers abstain from certain foods.
