Abstract

Basic Health Research (RISKESDAS) (2013) stated the prevalence of DM from 1.1% (2011) increased to 2.4% (2013). The lowest prevalence of DM was found in Lampung province at 0.7%. And the highest prevalence of DM is in the province of DI Yogyakarta, which is 2.6%. West Sumatra is included in the largest prevalence of DM, ranked 2nd out of 33. Provinces with a prevalence of 1.3% while in West Kalimantan in 2013 DM patients aged over 15 years ranked 20th in Indonesia with a prevalence of 0.8%. (Basic Health Research, 2013). Uncontrolled diabetes mellitus can cause chronic complications such as (stroke, coronary heart disease, blurred eyes, kidney and leg diabetes caused by nerves). The control of the patient's blood sugar level is strongly influenced by the patient's adherence to the given diet. This can occur because of an unattended diet, lack of physical activity, and compliance with medication. Objective: To determine the relationship of people with diabetes mellitus to adherence to diet, physical activity, adherence to taking medication with blood sugar levels. Method: This cross-sectional study was conducted at Kitamura Public Health Center Pontianak 45 samples of patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria by purposive sampling. Data analysis using Bivariate Analysis. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between dietary adherence of DM patients (p value = 0.046), there was no significant relationship between physical activity of DM sufferers (p value = 0.815), adherence to take medication for DM sufferers (p value = 0.158) with blood sugar levels. Suggestions in this research are: Checking sugar levels for people with diabetes mellitus should be done routinely. Eating more strict dietary settings, reducing dinner, reducing eating foods that contain carbohydrates. Conduct regular sports activities with appropriate programs. Should take medication according to doctor's instructions and on time
