Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (PTM) are the most common cause of death in Indonesia, where non-communicable diseases are still an important health problem so that at the same time PTM morbidity and mortality is increasing. One of the noncommunicable diseases that attack society today is hypertension. Hypertension cases in the elderly in the Working Area of UPTD Puskesmas Dara Juanti Sintang in 2016 amounted to 276 cases, in 2017 decreased to 193 cases, and in 2018 to 189 cases. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence hypertension in the elderly in the work area of Puskesmas Dara Juanti. This type of research is analytic survey design with a case control approach. A sample of 55 respondents were taken by proportional random sampling technique. The statistical test used was the chi-square test with a significance level of 5% (p <0.05) or a 95% confidence level. From the statistical test results obtained p value> 0.05, it can be concluded that there is no relationship between diet, hypertension history (genetic ), and exercise with the incidence of hypertension in the elderly in the Work Area UPTD Puskesmas Dara Juanti Sintang in 2019. It is recommended that the elderly routinely check themselves into health care facilities, maintain a good diet, and exercise regularly.
