Abstract

Background. An unwanted occupational accident can disrupt the process activity which caused by unsafe action and unsafe condiotion. ILO data shows the percentage of occupational accidents is 13,7% in Indonesia with 80,392 work accident cases and in Nutrition Installation of Regional Public Hospital (RSUD) DR. Soedarso Pontianak, there are 7 accident cases. Purpose. This research aims to identify the cause of occupational accidents in food processing workers at the Nutrition Installation of RSUD dr. Soedarso, West Kalimantan Province. Methodology. This research is a descriptive survey research that describing the factors of unsafe action and unsafe conditions which caused the occupational accidents in food processing section in the Nutrition Installation of RSUD dr. Soedarso Pontianak. The total research sample is 37 people with total sampling based on the workers characteristic. Result. The respondents have a fair knowledge with 54.1%, the work behavior of respondents was categorized as alright (56.8%), compliance with PPE did not use by 81.1%, had attended training at 56.8%, the respondents that state about the unsafe design work environment in Nutrition Installation of RSUD dr. Soedarso Pontianak is 89.1%, and the statements about no prevention effort is 70.3%. Suggestion. The occupational accident prevention in the form of improving the design of the work environment, the need for prevention efforts in hospitals and providing PPE according to standards, providing counseling and training on the causes of occupational accidents in the food processing section, and identifying the causes of work accidents in the food processing section at the Nutrition Installation of Dr. Soedarso Pontianak
