Abstract

Measles is an infectious disease which can cause an epidemic, and it should be watched out by doing the immunization. The measles immunization given to children serves to prevent the disease, morbidity, mortality and disability.At present, the measles immunization isa health problem that is concerning especially in Peniraman Village, the research location, with the coverage of measles immunization is 79.71%. Yet this number has been not reached the national target. Thus, this is the idea behind thisresearch conducted. The research aims to know the factors that are associated with the mother’s willingness who have toddlers for getting measles immunization. This research used a combination health theory between “Health Belief Model” and “Lawrence Green”. The research design used a case control design and the total number of samples is 110 respondents, selected by purposive sampling. The statistical test used is chisquare with a confidence level of 95%. The results showed that knowledge(p value = 0,000; OR = 6,271, CI 698-14,575), perceived susceptibility (p value = 0,000; OR = 10,872, CI 361-50,059), perceived severity (p value = 0,000; OR = 9,871 , CI 129-31,136), perceived benefit (p value = 0,000; OR = 10,625, CI 37233,481), perceived barrier (p value = 0,000; OR = 9,164, CI 901-28,945), role of health workers (p value = 0,000; OR = 10,625, CI 372-33,481), family support (p value = 0,000; OR = 6,323, CI 323-17,209) have an association with mother’s willingness who have toddlers for getting measles immunization. The associated variabels are mother’s age (p value = 0.424), mother’s education (p value = 0.056), financial status and the distance from home to the immunization place (p value = 0,219). It can be advised to increase the mother’s and family’s knowledge about measles immunization, if the knowledge is increased thus the perception of vulnerability, threat, benefits and obstacles will be changed.
